About Ian

I spent six years working for the ESPN as a camera operator, engineer, technical director, and director. This opened up the world of production for me, acquiring work on large scale shoots for National Geographic, Hulu, HP, Morgan Wallen, HGTV, and more. Production was my primary income source, but backpacking and capturing the aura of our preserved land was my passion.
When not working I immersed myself in our preserved lands. The summers of 2021-2022 I hiked over 700 miles and drove over 200 hours all around the US. In 2023 craving a more intimate experience in the woods I traveled North America on foot along the Pacific Crest Trail in a record snow year. These experiences made me realize I needed a career shift and I became a backpacking guide in the Sierra Nevada.
Photography and videography have been passions of mine since 2017 dominating my free time. Now I have the privilege of combining them with backpacking for a living. Moments and memories are evanescent, but pictures bottle up light and time in the form of megapixels, freezing the moment forever in a digital time capsule. I would love to be able use these tools in combination with nature to tell impactful stories.
